Help defeat Propositions 6 and 9!

Dear Friend of FCL,

I am serving as the Friends Committee on Legislation's (FCL) representative to the "No on 6 - No on 9" campaign.

As you know, FCL, the American Friends Service Committee, the American Civil Liberties Union and others oppose Propositions 6 & 9. We are close to winning our campaign to stop Props 6 & 9. These measures would result in reductions to education and health care funding and an increase in the number of people incarcerated in California's already overcrowded prisons without any proven increase in public safety. However, we need additional funds to convince undecided voters.

Please read the message below, give as generously as you can, and pass the message along to your friends, family, and neighbors.

Thank you,

Sincerely yours,

Thank you,

Lillian Henegar

Dear Supporter,

Wednesday, October 22, 2008 Dear Supporter, Thanks to you, we have built a powerful campaign to defeat Propositions 6 & 9. We're on the path to victory! But the races will be close -- very close. We have just 13 days to convince undecided voters to reject these initiatives. To do just that, we've created brand new radio ads to broadcast across the state. You can help! We're trying to raise funds to purchase additional airtime so we can reach even more Californians. Please donate today to give us the push we need to win this race.

Donate to No on Prop 6 or No on Prop 9

Our opponents at the Yes on 6 and Yes on 9 campaigns are already spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on advertising. We don't know how much more money these deep-pocketed proponents of big prisons will throw at the campaigns in the two weeks leading up to November 4th. Here's what we do know: We must step up our own efforts to get OUR message -- one of justice and fiscal prudence -- in front of as many Californians as possible, as soon as possible. What started off as a small whisper denouncing these propositions has now grown into a roar. Every major newspaper in the state has run editorials urging Californians to VOTE NO on PROPS 6 & 9. Even the NY Times reminded us that the last thing California needs is new policies that land even more people behind bars and drive up prison spending further. We are grateful to everyone who helped us build grassroots momentum by making early contributions to fund the campaign. Now, with the election just two weeks away, we truly need your help once again to ensure these attacks on our communities do NOT become law.

Now is the time to make a personal commitment -- a sacrifice, even -- and donate to the No on Props 6 & 9 Campaign. And please, recruit your friends, family, and colleagues to join our fight. They will give only if you ask, so they must hear directly from you why this is so important. We urge you and everyone you know to visit www.VoteNoProp6.com or www.VoteNoProp9.comand make a donation today! We can't stress enough how urgently we need your financial support to win.

If you have any questions, please contact me at (510) 428-3939 x241. With your support -- and your financial investment -- we are going to win this. Thank you for your assistance! Toward victory, Jakada Imani
