Loyalty Oath Exemption Bill Moves to Governor's Desk!
Dear Friend of FCL,
We’re pleased to report to you that the Legislature has approved Senate Bill 1322, by Senator Alan Lowenthal, D., Long Beach, which creates a religious exemption to the loyalty oath requirement for public employees.
The bill, which also conforms state law to the US Supreme Court’s ruling that membership in political parties is not grounds for termination, now awaits Governor Schwarzenegger’s signature in order to become law.
