Loyalty Oath Legislation Hearing Scheduled: Letters Needed!
Sample Support Letter
Senate Bill 115, by Senator Alan Lowenthal (D-Long Beach), creates an exemption to the loyalty oath requirement for public employees and applicants based upon their religious, moral and ethical convictions. A previous version of this bill was vetoed by Governor Schwarzenegger. This version has been drafted to address concerns raised in the governor's veto message.
We are fortunate that Senator Lowenthal has reintroduced this legislation. Now it is up to us to step up for Senator Lowenthal and help him get this bill passed!
The bill's first hearing is scheduled for March 31st in the Senate Judiciary Committee.
By arrangement with the author, FCL will be coordinating letters of support to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
