DOWNLOAD: Registration Form for the California Interfaith Coalition Lobby Day

Dear FCL Supporter,

Please join FCL and the California Interfaith Coalition in Sacramento on March 28th for the annual Legislative Issues Briefing Day. Like last year, there will be a pre-briefing dinner and discussion on Monday, March 27th. Details for both events are below and registration forms will be mailed soon.

SAVE THE DATES – MARCH 27& 28 2006

California Interfaith Coalition’s Annual
LEGISLATIVE ISSUES BRIEFING

The Annual California Interfaith Coalition Legislative Issues Briefing will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, 11th Street and the K Street Mall, Sacramento. The briefing will be from 8 am to 3 pm. The Cathedral is one and half blocks north of the state Capitol.

This year’s event will feature Senator Richard Alarcon on the Master Plan to End Poverty in California. His talk will be followed by workshops on legislation and issues pending before the State legislature and voters including topics on health care; the death penalty and the ‘Three Strikes’ law; the impact of the initiative process; living wage, and immigrants. Luncheon speaker will be Assembly Member Hector De La Torre (invited). Afternoon lobbying, 1pm – 2 pm will include visits to legislators representing key budget and policy committees in Sacramento. The cost for the all-day event including materials and lunch will be $35. This year there is a student rate of $20 to encourage youth to participate in this event.

Monday, March 27 from 6pm-8:30pm CIC will offer its second pre-briefing dinner with a guest speaker. This year’s speaker is Anuradha Mittal from the Oakland Institute. Ms. Mittal is a world-renowned authority on global hunger who recently returned from the World Trade Organization meetings. She will speak on the impact of globalization on world food distribution and hunger. We also hope to have a representative from the Farm Worker Ministry to address issues of faith advocacy for migrant workers. The dinner plus speaker will be $40. Attendance at the talk alone is free, 7pm-8:30pm.

Please contact us at the California Council of Churches if you have names to add to the registration list. Please send new names to us at California Council of Churches and Church IMPACT, 4044 Pasadena Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95821 or call 916.488.7300. You may also respond by email to sholes@calchurches.org

Thank you.
Sincerely,
