Tell Governor Schwarzenegger California Needs More Revenues!
ATTACHMENT: PDF 62 K
Dear FCL Supporter,
FCL and the Children's Roundtable need your help.
The governor and the State Legislature need to hear from you that the state needs new revenue to protect children's programs.
The 2005-06 budget deliberations in Sacramento continue although discussions around new revenues have stalled. Programs that serve children are already facing cuts in the proposed 2005-06 budget. Education stands to lose approximately $3 billion and working families on CalWORKs are being asked to forgo cost of living increases in a state where the cost of living continues to increase. Without new revenue, devastating cuts proposed but rejected in health, child care, and human services will resurface and be harder to fight.
Additionally, the federal government is considering cuts in funding for programs states rely on to serve children. This will make the budget squeeze in California even more acute.
New revenues will help stave off the need for further cuts. But the Legislature and the Governor need to understand that people support that option before they will consider it further.
Let the Governor know that you support increased revenue for children's programs by completing and faxing the attached letter to 916.445.4633 on JUNE 30th.
Also, so we can let the Legislature know you sent a letter, please send an e-mail with your name and the city in which you live to info@caichildlaw.org and to JimL@fclca.org.
Thanks in advance for your participation,
Jim Lindburg
