Using the Internet to Track Legislation

1. Point your web browser to http://leginfo.ca.gov/bilinfo.html

2. Select the proper legislative SESSION (usually the current session)

3. Select either the Bill Number or the Author(s) name.

4. Enter the Bill Number or Author’s last name in the space provided. 
(Omit the letters “AB” and “SB.” For example, for SB 840 enter “840.”)

5. Click the Search button and if prompted select the link for SB 840.

You are now at the webpage for the bill you selected. Now you may look up the status, history and text of each individual bill (the latest version is on top) as well as the committee and floor analyses and committee and floor votes by clicking the appropriate links.

If you wish to follow a bill as it winds through the legislative process, you may receive automatic e-mail updates by clicking the SUBCRIBE button and entering the required information.
